Top Picks by Issac Nichols

As we celebrate our third auction at Public Sale, we are delighted to spotlight the wonderful personality and creativity of our good friend Issac Nichols in our third rendition of Top 5 Picks.

Known for his polarizing “boob pots,” Issac has gained widespread recognition for his pottery, with countless blog posts and articles being written about both his art, and his intriguing lifestyle.

His pots, which celebrate the human form with a fresh take on the typically staunch sameness of household pottery, represent a new artistic take on the female body, sometimes shown in brightly colored bikini tops, or perhaps more strikingly, in the nude.

Though it is less well known, Isaac is also a skilled carpenter who spent years in the field of Architectural Salvage, the practice of salvaging lumber for reuse. These years helped to develop his love for all things old, and for reclaiming what may otherwise have been lost to time. For years he has been salvaging parts and pieces to build his upstate home in Saugerties, NY, which we are excited to announce, is nearing completion. He has done a wonderful job at building this house, and we are thrilled that we will soon be able visit it in its final form!

Isaac’s diverse taste in antiques ranges from fun-face painted car hoods to salvaged boards pulled off of old storefronts. He rarely misses making an appearance at the large flea-market Brimfield, almost always bringing home a new piece to add to his collection.

Memorable in our relationship with him, Isaac came with us on a pick years ago to remove a 24-foot-long store counter, which he helped us to remove from the second floor of a building. With no way down except through a hatch door out of the 2nd floor, Isaac helped us dissect the moulding, carefully cutting it apart from the counter. The same counter was later reassembled and used in our café in Kingston, NY.

We are thrilled to present to you our beloved friend’s top five picks from our latest curated auction at Public!Sale!
