Top Picks by Woody Pirtle
For our February Decorator & Design Sale’s rendition of Top 5 Picks, we reached out to the award winning graphic designer Woody Pirtle, owner and creative director of Pirtle Design.
We are honored to have him select his top five favorite items in our upcoming sale!
In the world of graphic arts, Pirtle is a legend.
His client list isn't just a who's who. Instead, it’s an intriguing group of businesses including the American Folk Art Museum, Knoll Furniture, IBM and perhaps most impressively, Amnesty International for which he created posters based on the Universal Declaration of Human rights.
In 1978, he established his design firm, Pirtle Design. In 1988, Pirtle became a partner at Pentagram Design, a prestigious design firm with offices worldwide. He left Pentagram in 2005 and continued his work at Pirtle design. In 2003, Woody won the prestigious AIGA medal for his career in design.
We met Woody years ago when he lived in Ulster County. A long time resident of the Hudson Valley, he now resides in Hudson, NY. His invitation to his stone house just off the Wallkill River revealed to us his design palette and his collection of antiques. Over the years, Woody has accumulated a vast assemblage of antique objects which reside alongside his own paintings & collages.
