Top Picks by Frank Sisti & Melia Marden

For our two-day Americana sale,

we decided to reach out to our friends Frank Sisti & Melia Marden to choose their top picks from our 900-lot auction. Naturally, when Frankie & Melia came to Public Sale, they had quite a hard time narrowing down their top 5 picks!

After we first met the couple, about 10 years ago, we continued to see them at the New York City Pier Show, a high-end indoor antiques show held in an old NYC pier. They had an eye for the crazy, the fun, the wacky, the bright & colorful... They seemed to gravitate to the most unusual funky item in your booth.

Years later, we still call them to show a wacky vintage piece we come across. Even today Frankie comments on the set of tools painted with red & white candy stripes that he bought from us years ago.

Thanks so much @chefmelia and @frankiesapt !!

They each chose their own top picks for this two-day auction.

See their picks below —

Frankie Sisti

Frankie is the creator and mastermind behind “The Kid America Club,” a website with an underground cult following and an instantly recognizable, colorful modern folk-art aesthetic. Though it exists mostly as a website today, The Kid America Club is a brand above all else. It’s one of those things that exists in its own world, with unique caricatures, puppets, and a hilariously irreverent way about it that sucks you into a 90s New York City that strikes a stark contrast to the bleak, competitive place it is usually presented as today.

The Kid America Club has hosted a series of TV shows (including most recently “Frankie’s Apartment”) that never quite got off the ground in the mainstream, but which deserve a view from anyone who appreciates creativity and comedy, and the type of production techniques that don’t need to make appearances, because they are something to stand in awe of on their own.

Melia Marden

Melia Marden is the chef and owner of The Smile Cafe, located on Bond St. in NYC which has been open since 2009. Serving delicious food in a beautifully decorated space, with antiques, toledo cafe chairs, thonet bentwood stools and even an old medical cabinet, there are plenty of things to keep your eyes awake while you eat. The Smile is one of those places that is beautiful without being pretentious, it feels like it doesn’t have to prove itself, “the proof is in the pudding,” perhaps literally...
